report" begins right now. >>> first up tonight, president obama will travel to boston thursday for an interfaith service with bombing victims. more than 24 hours after two bombs ripped through marathon crowds killing three, wounding 170 others, investigators are still no closer to answers. late this afternoon, the fbi said no claims of responsibility have been received, and the search for suspects is wide open. deborah boxdy joins us now from boston with all of the latest. good evening, deborah. >> reporter: good evening, larry. i'm live here along boylston street in the heart of boston, about four blocks or so away from the marathon's finish line, where those two bombs exploded just one day ago. security around the city remains extremely tight, as people try to move on after that devastating attack. three people died, including 8-year-old martin richard of dorchester, massachusetts. more than 170 others were hurt. some of them losing limbs. earlier today, authorities began processing that crime scene, which now stretches about 12 city blocks. they detailed some of the evidence found

investigation in washington, on letters possibly poisoned with iricin, which wer sent to president obama and senator roger wicker. eamon javers has the latest on the ricin scare. >> reporter: we've had a flurry of suspicious package incidents in washington here today. earlier today, the hallway right behind me here in the russell senate office building was actually closed off and a bomb squad moved in to investigate a suspicious package that was there. also, staffers received an e-mail alert, not to go anywhere near the third floor of the hart senate office earlier today because of a suspicious package incident over there. some members of congress reporting suspicious letters, including senator carl levin, who said that a letter was delivered to his saginaw, michigan, office. he said in a statement a minute ago that a staffer there has been sent to the hospital on a precautionary basis. that staffer hasn't developed any symptoms of ricin poisoning. and then, of course, over at the white house today, they said they had a suspicious package incident of their own as well. here's press secretary

marathon bombings. all this as president obama went to that city today to help begin the healing. scott cohn has the latest from that city. scott? >> michelle, we are, indeed, about two hours away from this long-awaited news conference. we've had an official news blackout for two days now. so we should find out what the authorities have been working on the last couple of days. some actual official information about that. potentially, a picture or pictures of the people they want to talk to and what they've learned from all of those video images. and we know that there were cell phone cameras that people have turned in and all the surveillance cameras, like the one in the lord and taylor store, just across the street from the second blast. and also, at least two others that were operated by the boston athletic association at the finish line, and those could be very high-quality images, because those were high-definition cameras. so if they caught something, that could be crucial. also, there are the fragments that they've picked up of the explosive devices, and we know now, according to

fbi looking at right now? what's most important from your standpoint? >> well, obama met with his security advisers today, and their biggest concern is that it is a foreign threat, that it's not too lone wolfs in the united states that took this under their own, just decided to do it themselves. so what the fbi will be looking at is phone records, e-mail records. they'll be looking at any communications, travel records that had to do with these guys going back and possibly training at a camp in northern africa. the most important thing is the communication records, if they've made phone calls, connecting them to other people that may have been involved in encouraging this act or training them to do this particular act, that's what the fbi's going to be looking for going forward. >> and we don't have anymore information on that right now. we know, though, that the older brother, who is dead, did leave the country for six months. he's been living in america since 2007, but left for six months, and investigators are trying to zero in on whether or not he got terrorism training. are y

at the white house and that barack obama was injured in those explosions. that fake and erroneous tweet went out at about 1:07 p.m. and shortly thereafter, at about 1:16 p.m., the associated press reporter at the white house had the chance to make a little news of her own. that's because the white house briefing was coincidentally scheduled at that time and the associated press traditionally gets to ask the first question. in this case, it was ap reporter julie pace who had a chance to clear up some of the confusion arou surrounding this incident. >> i want to say at the top that it appears as though ap's twitter account has been hacked, so anything that was just sent out about any incident at the white house is absolutely false and we'll be putting out something today shortly to clarify if that hasn't happened already. >> and the president is fine. i was just with him. >> and that is not something you see every day. the white house press secretary having to reassure reporters in the briefing room that the president is fine. but, clearly, here, guys, one of the things that washing

deval patrick as well as president obama who will speak at the end of the service and will bring those remarks to you live. as you know in any sort of in terms of healing it, the key is willing a will to heal. that is very much apparent here in boston. now onto the investigation, as carl said two individuals being sought by authorities on camera, videos can be waptured of these individuals around the time of the bombing, but authorities are also saying that the pictures of those individuals have not been released. so pictures are not the men that authorities are looking for. but there were multiple images that captured the explosion and the time leading up to it. that's what authorities are looking at frame by frame by frame. not just cell phone video, but surveillance video. we talked about the lord & taylor camera directly across the street from the second bombing. there were two other cameras at least that were supplied by a company called access communications. those cameras were high definition cameras. so these could be very high quality images, and we expect that authorities may

president could. if obama nearly tried, it could produce a million jobs in the oil and gas industry. that's not even including the ancillary small businesses or the factory jobs that we moved here from other countries to benefit from our cheaper energy costs. but here's the rub. in order to achieve energy independence within president obama's time in office, the president would have to embrace natural gas as a surface fuel, the way they do in other countries with bountiful gas reserves. he has the ability to order government automobiles, trucks to convert to natural gas. that would then foster a huge job-creating infrastructure and make the importation of oil from diesel fuel one-quarter of all our imports into an irrelevance. however, if the president did that, his environmental base would be furious. so instead, he says, he favors all sorts of energy. hey, that's the same thing as doing nothing. he needs to say natural gas is our fuel. we're going to use it to clean up our skies and also become energy independent. sound impossible? listen. i'm not talking about giving this industr
